what type of testing occurs,

all these comes under Methodology

life cycle with a little bit of variance in the micro level.

In a macro level Test Methodology includes:
Test Initiation
Test Planning
Test Design
Test Execution & Defect Management
Test Closure

A project level which defines required testing approach for 
current proj. testing only.QA will follow below approach
1.Determine project type
2.Determine project req. and app.type.
3.Indentify tactical risks.
4.Identify the scope of app. req's
5.Finalize TRM for current proj.
6.Prepare sys. test plan.
7.Prepare module testplan.

    According to me test methodologie is black box 
testing.    Why because testers follow this methodology to 
tes the application.
