Hi this is correct way to connect oracle using unix.

sqlplus username/passord@datasbename

In Unix prpomt type the command
sqlplus -s username/passwd <<EOD
select * from emp;

oracle need to install on unix. and database has to
configured in /oracle/network/admin/listener.ora file.
then use sqlplus dbname@sa/sa
