explain their working principle?

There is no DC VVVF because frequency came under AC only

VVVF MEANS VARIBLE VOLTAGE AND VERIBLE FRIQUENCY IT TAKE DC 
VOLTAGE TO RUN DAT VOLTAGE IS MAY BE 24V DC CORRENT ONLY 
DEPENDING UPON THE APPLICATION IT IS BASED

Frequency is related for only alternating current, so there
is no dc drive if you want run by the dc first convert dc
into ac after words you can use VVVF drives
