What is difference between JVM (Java Virtual Machine) and 
CLR (Common language Runtime) ?

They are mainly different in how they handle memory 
allocation. CLR is more dependant on the OS for it's limits.

JVM is for the UNIX environment.
CLR is for the Windows environment.

JVM interprets bytecode generated from Java.
CLR interprets bytecode generated from C# or VB.NET

JVM has instructions for:
Load and store 
Arithmetic 
Type conversion 
Object creation and manipulation 
Operand stack management (push / pop) 
Control transfer (branching) 
Method invocation and return 
Throwing exceptions 
Monitor-based concurrency

CLR includes: 
Memory management 
Thread management 
Exception handling 
Garbage collection 
Security
