`why earth hole size is biggest in plug point?`

1) See, this is to have a least resistance path to the flow
of earth fault current. As earth point have larger area, it
is having low resistance.( R=6l/a ).

2)To have very firm connection to earthed point.

The resistance of the Conductor is depending upon the area
of cross section of conductor i.e(R=6L/A), so we are
connected earth wire to the big one terminal of the socket
point as well as 3 pin top. To flow the fault current
through the terminal to earth easily.

It is biggest in length and dia... main reasons are..

1.To connect the earthing first.. instead of phase... so if
there is any internal short in the equipment... it willl
not harm to the operator.

2. To provide least resistance path.
3. As the short circuit currents are high... it must have
high cross sectional area...

There is no connection with cross sectional area and least
resistance path for short circuit current.

The size of earth pin is longer and bigger because of only
two following reason (you may refer BS1363)

• The longer earth pin ensures that the earth path is
connected before the live pins, and remains connected after
the live pins are removed.

• The design of the earth pin being of a larger
dimension prevents it from being inserted into the phase or
neutral sockets should this be attempted in error.

1) To withstand fault current. that is any short circuit
occur, all fault currents flow through earth.so earth
pin and plug give heavily.
2) any where should give earth first then connect power. so
earth pin give long.

Earth point is long and big because

1,we know if the cross section area increase resistance decreases.To decreases the resistance ,dia increased.And the length is to conduct first before power supply inserts
so when short circuit occurred the short circuit current will conduct earth point first,and flows through it because resistance is low

The resisitance of conuctor is directly propotional to
length of conductor and inversly propositional to condutor
area, so plug point earth point hole soze is large than
compare to phase and neutral

Hi All

As we know that Resistance is directly proportional to
lenth and Inversily proportional to area of conductor .
due to more area of cross section of earth point in compare
to Phase and neutral short circuit current will flow to
direction which have low resistance i.e. to earth point.
