Williamson synthesis reaction is used to synthesize ether.

ROR  ’+    NaX     
Where X = halogen
R&R’=alkyl group.

it is mainly used for the preparation of ethers& in this 
reaction alkoxide ion(sodium alkoxide)reacts with alkyl 
halides to give ethers & by using this method even aromatic 
ethers also prepared.
