VSS means VERSION SOURCE SYSTEM.
Whenever application came for modification we consider it
as a new realease. We keep both old and new releases in our
database. We use VSS to managing version of an application.
Basically VSS is managing all the changes in the
application.

Sorry Its not a release it's a "new version" in the above
explanation.
Version Control-Whenever any application came for
modification we consider that as a new version of that
application. We kept our old version and this new version
of application in our database. We use VSS (Version source
System) to manage the verions of application

Charan Teja VSS Stands for Visual Source Safe , Yes it's a
Configuration Managment Tool.

Here Mainly 2 terms is there one is Check in & another one
is Check out.

Check in Means what ever changes we made to the coding or
build etc.. that will apply to Main Server.

Check Out Means we will get the latest version of files.

So initially when we are entering in to VSS first time we
have to click on Check out option...to get the latest
Version files . After any modification done by you then
click on Check in that changes will apply to Main Server..
