ISO 9000 is a series of standards developed by ISO.It is a 
system standard & not a product standard 

Characteristics
 
ISO 9000 Can be implemented in any type and size of 
organization.
It is independent of the product,size and country.

Meenakshi Patil you are correct

ISO 9000 standard series can be implemented for any 
organisation irrespective of the company level,type of 
business.
For example ISO standards can  implement for a police 
station,(it's real in Hyderabad somany police stations got 
ISO 9000 cerifications),Engineering colleges,Petrol 
Bunks..Etc.
here thing is the ISO cerified institution should document 
every work and it should be according standards defined by 
the ISO.

Actulally ISO-9000 means Qulity Management System.
Organization to cover 
documention,design,devlopment,production ,testing ,implement
ion,installation,servicing and any other processes
