so many mtrics are available like effort varians ,shedule 
variance

Yes as Amar Said, there are a lot of Quality Metrics 
available.

They can be broadly classified into 3 as below:
1. Project related Metrics
2. Product related Metrics 
3. Process Related Metrics

Each have some 3 to 4 sub categories. This is usually 
captured at the end of any project to make corrective 
actions if required in future projects and to promote the 
organization and its work to the new clients....

Metrics gives the data about the project 
i.e the health of the project

metrics r calculated by three ways
1.Defect Density
2.Review Effectiveness
3.Delivered defect density

a computer software entity. One of a set of techniques 
whose aim is to measure the quality of a computer program.
a simple one is the FileSize metric, which is the total 
number of characters in the source files of a program.
