How do you check the syntax of a JCL without running it?

TYPERUN=SCAN on the JOB card or use JSCAN.

Some companies use a tool for this. it is called JJDIRECT

You can also use JEM (if your installation has it.)

You Can also use EJCK command before you run the job. this
will check the JCL syntax error.
