Internal Combustion Engines (ICE's):
The charge (Usually Petrol or Diesel, liquid or gaseous form) is burnt inside the Chamber where Chemical Energy is transformed into heat energy and then Mechanical Work is obtained. In simple word combustion of Charge does the work. Used for Automobile, Small Generators, Aircrafts.
External Combustion Engines (ECE's):
The charge (Solid, Liquid or Gaseous form) is burnt externally and this Heat is used to Heat the water and steam is formed. The steam is drives the blades of Turbines. Used in Power Plants, Industries, etc.
