quality center is like higher version of test director...
automation tools winrunner -> test director and
qtp->quality center....
but u can know abt test director and quality center
independently through mercuryinteractive 14 days
trial...helps u if u r getting into automation testing...
Qulity center is the latest vesion of the testdirector.upto
8.0 it is called as testdirector after that it is called
as QC. in testdirectors having three tabs onley
plantest, runtest, trackdefects, but in QC four tabs is there
reqirements tab will be added. And QTP latest versions are
sport onley QC .After 8.0 version of QTP.
Answer #3 is wrong. In TestDirect there were always 4 tabs.
Requirements, TestPlan, TestLab, Defects.
TestDirector for Quality Center has same 4 tabs - that did
not change. Quality Center perfectly integrates with
Functional Testing that now includes QTP + WinRunner (this
integration was possible before with TestDirector as well).
As far as tabs... There is 1 additional tab that appeared
in Quality Center that was not there before and it's called
Dashboard (for project management). I did not see it since
the license need to be purchased separatly.
Quality Center is Functional Suite provided by Mercury which
has the following:
1. Test Management Tool: Test Director
2. Fucntional Automation tool: Winrunner and QTP
In addition to the normal test director features, QC has a
dashboard for reporting metrics.
Business Process Testing is a new feature that has been
incorporated in QC 9.0. This would have additional charges
when purchasing the package.
Also, in the latest version of QC 9.2, Release Management is
also an important module.

Hope this will help. QC is like a big package consisting:
Test Director, QTP, WinRunner and bunch of other features to
give the cross functional teams (QA, Devs, Business Analysts
etc.) involved in the QA process a common platform to
collaborate their efforts.
While TD alone is a Test management tool we all know about.

If I am wrong Please let me knowv
Trying to install Test Director 7.5 on my laptop which has
windows vista home premium. The error message i am getting
is IIS not installed. But IIS 7 is installed and working
fine.
I also installed IIS 6.0 Metabase Compatibility Layer
in "Turn Windows Features on or off" in Vista. But still
not successful.
Can anyone tell me what is the problem?
what version of IIS does test director 7.5 support?
when i am trying to install QC 9.2 i got a message
like"Windows Xp Service Pack2 does not support QC
enterprise edition.."what does it mean by.please help me.
In the defect life cycle, if you find a defect in QC and
think that it is not a valid defect. what will you do? just
close it or store it in any document for future review, if
yes what type of document and where?
After you have completed the first phase of running
the 'Test Cases' in TD, now that you have set the status of
each step as Pass/Fail. How will you run the same 'Test
Cases' for regression testing (say for 2rd or 3th build)?
I am using Quality Center 9.2. While raising a defect i can
see that there is only option to send a mail to assigned
and it is also sent to me. Is there any way i can send the
mail to multiple users ? I know i can save the defect and
than later sent it to multiple users, but is there any way
where i can send it at the time of raising the defect
itself. Any configuration that can be done by an
adminstrator?
