Reverse phase: Stationary phase is non polar, mobile phase is
polar.

Normal Phase: separates analytes on the basis of their
affinity for a polar stationary surface such as silica.

Reversed Phase: separates on the basis hydrophobic
interacertions, which originates from the high symmetry in
the dipolar water structure
