power factor gives us a measure of the energy that is stored
in the capacitors and inductors.Inductors and capacitors
doesn't dissipate energy but,they constantly gets charged
and discharged.So,the whole power transmitted by the power
company doesn't go the customers.i.e,they can't utilize the
maximum power capability of the line.
Power factor is also important in
calculating bus voltages in a load flow problem.

how does the terminal voltage of transmission lines increase when a capacitor is connected???? This happens not only in transmission lines but also in all circuits. How??? When a capacitor is connected in a transmission line, capacitor also takes energy from the same supply. But how is it able to increase the terminal voltage???
