what is the main difference between simplex RTD and Duplex RTD?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Answer / ankamsreekar
Simplex RTD having only one sensor in the RTD. Duplex RTD
have two Sensors in single RTD, Which is used as redundant
sensor in critical applications.
Some times duplex RTD's are used to find healthiness of
sensor by measuring the difference between two sensors. If
the difference is increased by some limit an alarm will be
generated.

SIMPLEX: ONE SENSOR, EFFICIENCY IS LESS,PROBLEM WILL ARISE
WHEN THAT SENSOR GOT DAMAGED, ONLY FOR TEMPERATURE
MEASUREMENT, PRODUCTION COST IS LESS.
DUPLEX: TWO SENSOR, EFFICIENCY IS MORE, IF ONE SENSOR
DAMAGED OTHER ONE WILL MEASURE THE TEMPERATURE, USED TO FIND
THE HEALTHINESS OF THE SENSOR,PRODUCTION COST IS MORE.

Winding RTDs are embedded between coils inside a CRNGOSS (cold rolled non grain oriented silicon sheet steel) core slot. It is nearly impossible to replace a damaged/erroneous RTD, since the wound stator capsules are rasin dipped/VPIed(vacuum pressure impregnated). Taking out the top coil to insert fresh RTD will surely damage the insulation. A duplex will offer an additional source for measurement.

main basic difference is simplex and duplex RTD is two point in duplux rtd if one point is damage in rtd then use in other point . so simple procedure and lower cost.
