Question
What is the DIfferences between SMART transmitters and
PROFIBUS DP/PA Transmitters?

Answer
# 1
Basically, smart transmitters are used for sensing the
analog signal then, smart transmitter digitalized it & give
it range& adjustment.it corrects it by many factor.it is
used only in non hazardous area.this is continuous sensing.

apart from that,PROFIBUS DP is decentralised periphery
used in non-hazardous area & PROFIBUS PA is process
automation used in hazardous area. They is joined through
coupler.PLC Periodically receives data as a packet.

Basically trouble shooting point of view, multimeter if
enough to trouble shoot the SMART Transmitter. but Profibus
we need some kind of PLC loaded PC's

PLC DCS
 Fast logic scan (approx. 10ms) is required to perform
motor or motion control.
 Control loops require deterministic scan execution.
perform motor or motion control at a speed of 100 to 500 ms
 Redundancy may not be cost justified.
 System redundancy is often required.
 System can be taken offline to make configuration.
 Online configuration changes often required changes.
 Analog Control: Simple PID only.
 Analog Control: Simple to advanced PID control up to
Advanced Process Control.
 Diagnostics to tell you when something is broken.
 Asset Management alerts you to what might break before
it does.
