HOw do i calculate the number of theoretical plate on  a HPLC

We can use the following formula for calculation of the Theoretical plates(N).

N = 16*[TR/W]2

Here N = Theoretical plates
TR = Retention Time
W = Peak width
Is This Answer Correct ?    41 Yes 2 No

Theoretical plates(N):-

N = 5.55 x [RT/W]2

Here N = No. of Theoretical plates
RT = Retention Time
W = Peak width at half the hight of peak

Suppose RT of peak is 20 min. & Hight is 10 mm

Then W = 10/2 = 5

so N = 5.55 x [20/5]2

= 5.55 x [4]2
= 5.55 x 16 = 88.80
