The standard formula for calculating the weight of a steel
rod of any Diameter is {[(D^2)/(162)]*L}.

Where; D is diameter of Rod
L is length of Rod whose weight is to be
calculated.

Ususlly L doesnt come but putting L in formula is very
useful for calculating the weight of total length of a bar.

If in formula L doesnt come than the weight of the rod is
of one meter length.

For Example:

To calculate the weight of 8 mm dia bar of 1 meter length.

={(D^2)/(162)*L}
={(8^2)/(162)*1}
={(64)/(162)*1}
={0.4*1}
=0.4 kg

Similarly calculate the weight of bar of any Diameter.

(area of bar) x (1 metre of bar) = volume of bar

(3.14/4 x d/1000 xd/1000) x 1 metre = volume of bar

(0.000000785 x d xd)cum (dia convert to metre)
1 cum of steel is 7850 kg

so (0.0000007845 xd xd) cum of steel bar is
(0.000000785 x d x d) x 7850 =0.006162 x d x d
8mm bar 1m wt is 0.006162 x 8 x 8 = 0.394368kg
