Question   what are version control tools used in oracle apps? Rank Answer Posted By
Interview Question Submitted By :: Prasad
I also faced this Question!!   © ALL Interview .com
Answer
Oracle version control and change control?

Oracle Tips by Burleson Consulting

Question: Are there tools for managing a PL/SQL change
control and version control system? I want to track
versions and also track who changed a PL/SQL stored
procedure and when the PL/SQL was changed.

Answer: There are a variety of third-party Oracle change
control and version control tools

    *

Open source tools such as SCCS (Source Code Control
System) for Oracle. This is superseded by the Gnu CSSC
version control software.

    *

OEM change control pack from Oracle

    *

Oracle's SQL Developer also has an interface for
third-party change control and version control.

    *

Merant PVCS (Serena) version control for Oracle

    *

Mercury ITG ( Formally Kintana) for Oracle revision,
change control and Oracle version control.

Many folks use open-source tools such as the Source Code
Control System (SCCS), which has a check-in, check-out
routine. Oracle's SQL Developer also has an interface for
change control and version control:

"With 1.1, users can now access these files from their
version control systems," Harper said. "They open them up in
SQL Developer, and then they can edit those files and return
them to their version control system."

Oracle also has SCM (Software control Manager) that has
version control for repository objects with check-in, check
out. The version control is enabled within SCM in the
Repository Administration Utility, where you choose "Options
> Enable Version Support".

Also, Kishore Pagadala has published this code snippet for
tracking PL/SQL code changes:

-- Create history table
CREATE TABLE SOURCE_HIST
AS SELECT SYSDATE CHANGE_DATE, USER_SOURCE.*
FROM USER_SOURCE WHERE 1=2;

-- Store code in hist table
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER change_hist
AFTER CREATE ON SCOTT.SCHEMA
-- Change SCOTT to your schema name

DECLARE
BEGIN
IF DICTIONARY_OBJ_TYPE
IN ('PROCEDURE', 'FUNCTION',
'PACKAGE', 'PACKAGE BODY', 'TYPE') THEN

-- Store old code in SOURCE_HIST table
INSERT INTO SOURCE_HIST
SELECT sysdate, user_source.*
FROM USER_SOURCE
WHERE TYPE = DICTIONARY_OBJ_TYPE
AND NAME = DICTIONARY_OBJ_NAME;
END IF;
EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS THEN
raise_application_error(-20000, SQLERRM);

Question   If I have code like try { return; } catch { return; } finally { return; } from which block will the value will be returned. and try has been executed without any error. Rank Answer Posted By

Answer
In this scenario, the whole try block will get executed and
control will then be passed to finally block.
But an error come while executing finally block that Cannot
exit from finally block and execution gets stucks.

2 Prajaktaa

Answer
the above block will not execute as control will be unable to enter in to the filnally block. So return statement should be always in finally block not in the try block.

0 Vijay K Chin

Answer
Finally block will not return any values as it gives
error "Control cannot leave the body of a finally clause".
The finally block is useful for cleaning up any resources
allocated in the try block.

5 Claivan

Answer
It won't; that construction isn't allowed. You can't have a
return in the finally clause. Once that is removed there is
no problem, right?

Try this, call it from some code that displays the result
and then uncomment the //for...-line and run again.
        private int WeirdTry()
        {
            int foo = 10;

Question   How many types is controls is there in Asp.Net?If it means what are types of custom controls?Explain about user controls,Web server controls,Hrml server controls? Rank Answer Posted By
Interview Question Submitted By :: Damu
I also faced this Question!!   © ALL Interview .com
Answer
includes a chart of the five types of controls supported in
ASP.NET: HTML controls, HTML server controls, web server
controls, validation controls, and controls created by the
developer. This chapter will discuss this last type of
control, known as custom controls, and a subset of them
called user controls.

Custom controls are compiled controls that act, from the
client's perspective, much like web (ASP) controls. Custom
controls can be created in one of three ways:

By deriving a new custom control from an existing control
(e.g., deriving your own specialized text box from
asp:textbox). This is known as a derived custom control.

By composing a new custom control out of two or more
existing controls. This is known as a composite custom control.

By deriving from the base control class, thus creating a new
custom control from scratch. This is known as a full custom
control.

Of course, all three of these methods, and the three control
types that correspond to them, are variations on the same
theme. We'll consider these custom controls later in this
chapter. The simplest category of custom controls is a
subset called user controls. Microsoft distinguishes user
controls as a special case because they are quite different
from other types of custom controls. In short, user controls
are segments of ASP.NET pages that can be reused from within
other pages. This is similar to "include files" familiar to
ASP developers. However, user controls are far more
powerful. User controls support properties and events, and
thus provide reusable functionality as well as reusable HTML.

User Controls
User controls allow you to save a part of an existing
ASP.NET page and reuse it in many other ASP.NET pages. A
user control is almost identical to a normal .aspx page,
with two differences: the user control has the .ascx
extension rather than .aspx, and it may not have <HTML>,
<Body>, or <Form> tags.

The simplest user control is one that displays HTML only. A
classic example of a simple user control is an HTML page
that displays a copyright notice. Example 14-1 shows the
complete listing for copyright.ascx.

Question   what is open data path? and what is the diff b/w access path and open data path? Rank Answer Posted By
Interview Question Submitted By :: Koti
I also faced this Question!!   © ALL Interview .com
Answer
An access path describes the order in which the rows are
retrieved from a database file. If the rows in the file are
accessed in a physical sequence, that is known as an
arrival sequence access path. If the rows need to be
processed in an ordered manner, then a keyed access path is
needed to sort the data in the specified order. With DB2
for iSeries, keyed access paths are supplied to DB2 by
creating a keyed logical file, keyed physical file, or SQL
index.

An access path and an open data path are used together to
process the rows in a database file.

The open data path (ODP) is the path through which all
input and output operations are performed on a database
file. The ODP is used to connect the requesting program
with the data in the file. As data is retrieved from or
inserted into the file, the ODP will use an access path to
navigate to a row within in the file. If the rows need to
be processed in a sorted owner, then someone will need to
supply a keyed access path by creating a keyed physical
file, keyed logical file or SQL index.

An ODP is created and used each time that a file is opened
or when an SQL statement is executed. There are ways to
have an ODP shared or reused instead of creating the ODP
each time.

0 Mohan

Answer
thank u Mohan .I have doubht on this what is the perminent
ODP and temporary ODP ?

0 Koti

Answer
An open data path is the path through which all
input/output operations
for the file are performed. In a sense, it connects the
program to a file. If you do not specify the SHARE(*YES)
parameter, a new open data path is created every time a
file is opened. If an active file is opened more than once
in the same job or activation group, you can use the active
ODP for the file with the current open of the file. You do
not have to create a new open data path.

Whereas, Access path is path through which you can retrieve
records. There are 6 types of access path is
supported by SYNON. By default Synon creates 3 access path
namely Physical, Update and
Retrieve access paths.

1. ‘PHY’: Physical file: Arrival sequence access path
defining the based-on file. For a given
AllFusion 2E file there may only be one access path of type
PHY - the path will automatically be
created by AllFusion 2E.

2. ‘UPD’: Update: Access path used for update. Path is
keyed on AllFusion 2E fields that identify
the file. For a given AllFusion 2E file there may be
several different access paths of type
UPD, each containing a different combination of fields. A
default update path containing all
fields will automatically be created by AllFusion 2E.

3. ‘RTV’: Retrieval: Access path used to retrieve records
from file. The key order cannot be
changed. For a given AllFusion 2E file there may be many
access path of type RTV - a default
path, keyed on the identifying fields for the file, will
automatically be created by AllFusion 2E.
Each ‘RTV’ access path has an associated 'UPD' access path.

4. ‘RSQ’: Resequence: Access path used to retrieve records
from file using an alternative key
order. For a given AllFusion 2E file there may be many
access paths of type 'RSQ'.

5. 'QRY' : Query: Access path used to retrieve records from
file using an alternative key
order which may include virtual fields. For a given
AllFusion 2E file there may be many
access paths of type 'QRY'.

6. ‘SPN’: Span: Access path used to span several different
files using an alternative key order.
For a given AllFusion 2E file there may be many access
paths of type 'SPN'.

Answer
use DSPDBR command

0 Afnas

Answer
No Its not the correct answer... if you do a DSPDBR on a
logical file it wont show you the name of the physical file
that it is based on. Rather you need to use DSPFD on the
logical file. DSPDBR on a physical file will show the names
of all the LF files based on that PF.

0 Vinay Pawar

Answer
if you enter dspfd tgi3500l1
you will get a display part of which is seen below which
will tell the name and location of the physical file. But
if you use smart naming convention as seen here you wouldnt
need any command because our shop ends all physical files
with pf and all logicals with l1 l2 l3 etc thereby
providing he answer in the file name

Files accessed by logical file PFILE
