priority is fixed by the Senior Test Engineer.

0 Srinivas Poodari

Answer
Seviority is fixed by the project manager or test lead and
priority is fixed by the senior test engineer/test engineer
or if the "client" is famailier with the application then
that situations may client is also involved to fixed the
seviority and priority.

0 Shrinivas Poodari

Answer
It depends entirely on the size of the company. Severity
tells us how bad the defect is. Priority tells us how soon
it is desired to fix the problem.
In some companies, the defect reporter sets the severity
and the triage team or product management sets the
priority. In a small company, or project (or product),
particularly where there aren't many defects to track, you
can expect you don't really need both since a high severity
defect is also a high priority defect. But in a large
company, and particularly where there are many defects,
using both is a form of risk management.

TEst leader only know how much that bug effect the
application...so he only assign sevearity status....

0 Senthilkumar

Answer
serverity is decided by test engineer
and priority is decide by project manager

0 Aashish

Answer
It depends upon organization to organization. Anyone can
assign bug's severity and priority if he knows rules within
the project. Rules are decided mutually between
Developement and QA teams. You can find out with your team
member or your immediate boss about the practise. Generally
team lead will assign or modify the severity & priority of
the bug to avoid confusion.
