I have a Symbolic Parameter which can have a value say 01
or 02 etc. Now consider i have another Symbolic parameters
which is used to get 3 digit code of months (JAN, FEB, etc)
but for that i need to check the first symbolic parameter's
value and provide its corresponding month's name in the
second symbolic parameter. Say IF sym1 = 01 then sym2='Jan'
ENDIF etc... In JCL, IF condition is used for RC, ABEND
purposes of a step etc. When i use Symbolic parameter in IF
clause it is showing Error message. Is there a way to get
the above result possible in JCL. If you could provide me
with an example, i would understand it better.
i have 3 steps in my jcl, where i want to run only one step
at a time depending on the variable. How should i give the
condition statement... I have tried this with two steps
which is working but not able to add condn for the 3rd
step. can anyone help me... I want to know the cond stmt
which i can code in step 3 and step4, so that only either
step2 or step3 or step4 executes
why jobstep can't be more than 255 and for GDG has max
limit 255 . Is there any relation between the two

In a single step if input file is present then only need to
copy into output file or else need to through a RC is it
possible. Note : i want it in a single step
